Jessica Michelle Chastain was conceived in Sacramento, California, and was brought up in a white collar class family in a northern California suburb. Her mom, Jerri Chastain, is a vegetarian culinary specialist whose family is initially from Kansas, and her stepfather is a fire fighter. Jessica Chastain found move at nine years old and was in a move troupe by age thirteen. She started performing in Shakespearean creations everywhere throughout the Bay territory. A performing artist in a generation of "Romeo and Juliet" urged her to try out for Juilliard as a dramatization major.
